As one of the largest nonprofit cemeteries in the U.S., Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum attracts tens of thousands of annual visitors since its chartering in 1845. Spring Grove is a beautiful example of a rural American cemetery. We have over 450 acres of developed grounds featuring lakes, footbridges, islands, protected woodland areas, and hundreds of trees from across the world. Our experienced staff members help families across Greater Cincinnati navigate life’s most difficult moments. We assist with the planning of funerals, burials, and cremations in the spirit of honoring our neighbors and preserving Cincinnati’s rich history. The Spring Grove Heritage Foundation was created to promote and celebrate Cincinnati’s architecture, horticulture, and history. The Foundation also provides educational opportunities for families throughout our community.

Events at the Heritage Foundation

The Heritage Foundation sponsors workshops, tours, and seminars throughout the year. These events range from family nights to grief seminars to preplanning informational lunches to tram and walking tours that allow visitors to explore our expansive grounds. Keep an eye on our event schedule for updates and details on upcoming events at our cemetery.

The Spring Grove Arboretum

The Heritage Foundation promotes the Arboretum by supporting and expanding its inspiring display of trees, flowers, and plants, which includes rare and unique species. The Foundation encourages horticultural education to further the maintenance and development of the cemetery’s natural landscape. The Arboretum’s gardens are in bloom throughout the year, and visitors can enjoy a variety of plants, both indigenous and non-native.

The Docent Program

The Heritage Foundation developed a robust docent program to better share the cemetery’s natural beauty with the community. These individuals share their passion for nature, history, art, and architecture with visitors to Spring Grove, inspiring them to learn more about the special role we play in Cincinnati. We are always in need of more passionate docents to join our team, so if you’d like to share your interest in art, architecture, and history with the community, contact us to learn more about volunteering opportunities at Spring Grove.
