Arboretum

The Arboretum is dedicated to the protection and stewardship of Spring Grove Cemetery’s heritage and to promoting environmental sustainability while increasing the beauty of the garden. Through each season, the 750-acre garden is an incredibly beautiful horticultural educational facility for the Cincinnati community. Its heritage is tied to a strong, continuing tradition of horticulturists embedded in Spring Grove’s leadership.

Events

Oak Hill Cemetery Features

Oak Hill Cemetery, part of the Spring Grove Family, Oak Hill serves Tri-county and the surrounding communities building on a tradition of beauty and excellence. Oak Hill maintains deep ties to the community embracing the rich history and heritage of Northern Cincinnati.

Historic

Members of the Cincinnati Horticultural Society formed a cemetery association in 1844 to find a location suitable for creating a picturesque park like institution. On December 1, 1844, Salmon Chase and others prepared the Articles of Incorporation and the original 220 acres of “The Cemetery of Spring Grove” were dedicated on August 28, 1845. At the consecration ceremony the founders publicly proclaimed their hope that the natural setting would be a contemplative atmosphere conducive to consolation, commemoration, and education.

Spring Grove has been serving all of Cincinnati for over175 years.
