Obituary

Talmadge E. "Doug" Johnson, Jr., 71 of Liberty Township, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021.

Loving husband of 53 years to Sandra "Sandy" Johnson; devoted father to Cindy Mulholand (David), Rachelle Soliday (Brad), and Dustin Johnson; cherished grandfather to Austin Soliday, Riley Mulholand, and Ava Soliday; loving brother to Patricia Long, Theresa Poynter, and Virginia (Pete) Collison; loving brother-in-law to Alan Sharpshair and George Lawson.

He was born on December 21, 1949 in Hazard, KY to the late Talmadge E. Johnson, Sr. and Virginia Smith Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Lynn Lawson; brothers-in-law, Donald Sharpshair and Dave Poynter; sister-in-law, Dorothy Chandler; mother and father-in-law, William and Buford Proctor.

Doug loved God, family, and friends. Family was everything to him. He was an ordained minister. He looked forward to family reunions and holidays. He was always staying busy doing something or helping someone. He loved helping the needy and was involved doing food ministry. He has traveled to many places around the world. He loved taking vacations. He went on a mission trip to Egypt and Romania. His favorite trip he would talk about was going to Israel, being in the Holy Land, and going to Jordan visiting Petra. He was a true patriot and loved his country. When 9/11 happened, he went to the Pentagon to help during that tragic time. Motorcycles, hot rods, and street rods were a big part of his life. He always looked forward to getting together with his motorcycle brothers and having lunch. He loved music, going to concerts, and playing guitar. His grandchildren were his world. Doug had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help anyone in need at any time. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Services to Honor and Celebrate Doug's life will be conducted at 3 PM on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Spring Grove Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Ave. Visitation will begin at 1 PM and last until time of the service.
