Rosemary Smith, 84, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2021 in Danville, KY with her daughters by her side. Rosemary was the beloved mother of Holly Hane and Heather Nasinec, beloved stepmother to Greg (Liz) Smith and Sandy (Joel) Orr, cherished grandmother of Eli Gwin and Maya Gwin, adored aunt of Jenny (Beau) Morgan and Joann (Paul) Williams and friend to so many. She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Agnes (Blank) Lane, grandmother Rose Blank, brother Edward (Kathy) Lane, first husband and father of Holly and Heather, Joseph Nasinec, and second husband Cliff Smith, along with many precious aunts and uncles. Rosemary was born in Toledo Ohio where she spent many happy moments with family, especially her beloved "Grandma Rose". She spent many childhood summers at Black Lake in Michigan or visiting her paternal grandparents in Kansas. She loved art from a young age, and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Art at the University of Cincinnati. In her later years, she got an "honorary degree" from The Bengals franchise for her armchair coaching.... If the Bengals have a great season this year, you will know she made the coaching staff up above. All who knew Rosemary, know how much she loved gardening and landscaping. She was part of the Colerain Community Association, designing several landscaped areas around Colerain. She also had a magazine worthy yard which she enjoyed from Spring through Fall, and then designed (and redesigned) through many a winter evening, in her recliner with her graph paper and landscaping books by her side. Rosemary's other great passion was her love for animals and caring for them. She rescued many over the years, from dogs to birds to mice, even moving a tiny mama mouse and her nest from the propane tank to the barn. She also took on the role of adopting the stray kitties, who decided they had it made, and stayed.
Rosemary was a proud American and had great respect for all who served this great country, and prayed daily for world peace. She was an active member in her church and a woman of great faith, serving on the music committee among other things. Rosemary will be greatly missed by all who love her. Due to Covid 19 restrictions a Celebration of Life will be held for Rosemary May 15, 2021 at 2:00 at Spring Grove Cemetery.
