Obituary

Raquel Renee Owens (nee Helton), 50 years old, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 with her family by her side. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, Renee was the oldest of 3 children born to Cheryl Lynn (Roth) and Elmer Thomas Helton. Renee was courageous and strong as she battled pancreatic cancer, never giving up and always using her witty sense of humor to make us all laugh. One of Renee's favorite things was simply being with her family. She was extremely close to her children and grandchildren, especially daughter Emily, who she often said, she'd be lost without her. Renee also loved the entertainment world and could tell you anything you wanted to know about a movie, reality show or the lastest deals on QVC. She was a huge fan of the Kardashians. Those close to her would laugh and say she talked about Kim as if they were best friends and spoke daily. Renee was known as an excellent cook by her children, siblings, and close friends. Renee spent many years working in the food industry. Renee loved working at her family owned and operated historical drive inn restaurant known as Hyde's Drive Inn, Hamilton, Ohio. She also spent many years cooking at, her home away from home, Jen's Bar & Grill, Hamilton, Ohio. Renee was passionate about her faith and her love for the Lord Jesus. She loved her worship music and says this helped her get through many tough times during her fight. She first attended Allison Avenue Baptist Church, Hamilton, Ohio as a very young child and says this is where the foundation of her faith began. She loved helping her grandfather, Roy Hyde, collect the Sunday school offerings, taking attendance and singing in the youth choir.

Renee will be greatly missed by her 4 children, Ryan (Sandy) Owens, Tyler (Kelsey) Owens, Emily McArthur and Alexandra Cook; parents, Cheryl Sloneker, and Tom Helton; siblings, Amy Smith, Angie (Zane) White, Damon (Amanda) Brewer; granddaughters Ariel Murphy and Aurora Owens; aunts Paulette Parsons, Marcia Roth, Sue (Dick) Schmerr; cousins, Linda (Tracy) May, Danny (Robin) Riddell, Jimmy Roth, Billy (Justine) Paragin, Christy Paragin, Cheryl (Danny) Kelley, Stacey (Mike) Rohrbaugh, Scott Schmerr; nieces and nephews, Courtney Cornett, Makenna White, Hannah White, Kyle (Jordan) Smith, Rachel Smith, Matthew Smith, Brielle Brewer.
