Obituary

Mary Pamperin Schubert

Mary Jane Schubert (nee Pamperin) passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023, in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 100. Mary was born in the town of Howard near Green Bay, Wisconsin on November 30, 1922. She was the oldest of four children and was raised by humble parents who worked hard to manage the family's dairy farm. A few years after graduating from high school in Green Bay, Mary and a friend ventured to Chicago to find work and experience "big city life". There she met her husband, Bill, whom she married in 1948. Together they enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage.

Mary and Bill settled in Cincinnati, where Bill attended medical school and continued his career as an outstanding pediatrician, eventually serving as President and CEO of Children's Hospital Medical Center. She was dedicated to her husband, supporting him throughout his career. She participated in the annual welcoming of new residents and incoming physicians as well as attending numerous medical events and celebrations.

Mary was passionate about her family and rarely missed an opportunity to be with them. She and her family spent two weeks every summer at her former home in Green Bay, Wisconsin. These were cherished times when they enjoyed visiting with family and friends and helped pick, process and can vegetables from the August harvest. She and Bill also enjoyed several trips to Kiawah and Hilton Head Islands with their children and grandchildren. She was extremely proud of her daughters and grandchildren and their accomplishments.

Mary was the loving mother of Carol (Vic) DiPilla, Joanne Schubert, Barb (Don) Nolte and Nancy (Bill Spreen) Schubert; devoted grandmother of Abby (Ethan Alden-Danforth) Perlman, Aaron (Samantha Bergman) Perlman, William (Anna) Nolte, Ben and Sam Spreen; great grandmother of Joseph, Caleb and Leah Nolte and Wyatt and Sloan Alden-Danforth. Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she cherished.

In addition to her husband, William K Schubert, MD, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Elizabeth Pamperin, her sister, Elaine Pamperin, and her brothers, Tom (Ida) Pamperin and Donald (Ruth) Pamperin.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 25th at Spring Grove Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45223.

The family would like to express appreciation to the caregivers and staff at Marjorie P. Lee, Dr. Jeff Schlaudecker and to Vitas Healthcare for their care in her final days.

In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, donations are suggested to be given in Mary's memory to The William K. Schubert Minority Nursing Scholarship Fund, The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra or to a charity of the donor's choice.  www.springgrove.org
