Leonard Fischer

August 21, 1976 - March 8, 2021

Leonard Sive Fischer passed away suddenly on March 8. He was 44 years old. Leonard was predeceased by his grandparents, Leonard M. and Helena Holterhoff Sive, and John W. and Aileen Fry Fischer; his aunt, Frances Ann Sive; and his uncle, Leonard M. Sive, Jr. He is survived by his loving parents, John W. Fischer III and Helena Sive Fischer; his brother, John W. Fischer IV (Liz) of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; his aunt, Virginia Sive Aragon (Ray) of Bonita, California; and two nieces, Virginia Fischer and Lucille Fischer whom he adored. A native Cincinnatian, Leonard graduated from High Mowing School, Wilton, New Hampshire, and Wittenberg University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Leonard was a man of varied interests. He was an avid golfer and had made several trips to Scotland to play. He also attended major golf tournaments and was a regular spectator at local qualifying events for national tournaments.  Leonard was a collector of golf memorabilia, particularly early 20th century golf clubs and balls, and also played "hickory golf" using pre-1930 clubs. He was a longtime member of the Golf Heritage Society and active in its trade shows. Leonard was a voracious reader and an advocate of reading the classics of literature and biographies. As a boy, Leonard became interested in music and attended Interlochen Arts Camp in Northern Michigan. He played several instruments but focused on vocal music, singing several times in the chorus at the Cincinnati Opera, and sang as a basso profundo in the choir at Wittenberg University. Later in life, Leonard took up art focusing on portraits done in pencil.
