Kurt Thomas Hildebrand
Kurt Hildebrand passed away suddenly on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the age of 62. Kurt was born to the late Werner and Dorothy Hildebrand of Terrace Park, Ohio. He attended Ohio University and the University of Cincinnati, retiring from General Electric Aviation after 35 years as a Senior Design Engineer with numerous merit awards and patents to his name.
Kurt was a lifelong learner with a curiosity for the natural and scientific world. He loved to tell stories, and found great joy in teaching, mentoring and passing his knowledge along to others. He loved traveling with his wife, Elaine and their two precious sons, and enjoyed hiking the national parks, swimming in the oceans and visiting new places. Kurt had a wonderful life full of joy and exploration with his family and friends. Kurt was a devoted father to his two sons, Thomas and David, and a loving Papa to his first granddaughter, Eva Rose.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years of marriage, Elaine (Taphorn) Hildebrand; two sons, Thomas (Katelyn Mooney) Hildebrand, David Hildebrand, and two granddaughters, Eva Rose Hildebrand and Lyla Jade Hildebrand; his brother Werner (Kathy) Hildebrand and sister Sharon (Phil) Gentry. He was preceded in death by his brother Bob (Dinah) Hildebrand. He also leaves behind many dear family, friends and colleagues. His special light, talents, dedication and generosity will be missed by all who were close to him.
Kurt believed in giving more than receiving. In lieu of flowers, donations can be provided to two of the charities that Kurt supported during his time with us: St. Jude or a Tribute Gift through FreeStore Foodbank.
Because of Kurt's love for nature and the Fall season, a Northern Red Oak will be planted in his memory overlooking a lake at Spring Grove.
A Celebration of Life will be held outside in the Rose Garden of Spring Grove Cemetery (Main), 4389 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45223, on Saturday, October 9, 2021, with a Memorial Gathering at 1:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. In case of rain, celebration will be held in the Norman Chapel at Spring Grove Cemetery.
"Everybody needs beauty...places to play in and pray in, where Nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike." -John Muir
