John Richard White, Jr., born July 4, 1922, departed this life on September 30, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents John Richard White, Sr. and Ruth Cavalier-White and the following siblings: Julian White, Peter White, Vernon White, Stanford White, Barbara Parks, Lillian Cole, and Ruth Bales.
John was diagnosed with a form of mental illness at an early age and spent the greater part of his life in a mental institution until his sister, Carolyn decided he had been there long enough and brought him home in 1974 to live with her.
John was a warm and gentle person to be around, even though he didn’t play games; cards or crack jokes. He did have a soft side, watching over the young children in the family; making sure they were always safe. John liked animals, there was Sam and King, but John’s favorite was Tommy the cat. Tommy stayed by John’s side, where John went, Tommy followed.
John did not listen to much radio or read the newspaper, but he did enjoy watching one program on Sunday at 7pm on channel 5 (WLWT) and that was the Lawrence Welk Show, until it was canceled. He always enjoyed the occasional visits with his other sisters and niece (Bridgette) and their families.
Everyone enjoyed John’s company, and he was loved by everyone. John liked sitting on the porch watching the cars and people passing by, later in recent years, John enjoyed eating his meals, and instead of going out to sit, he would spend most of his time looking out the window or resting.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sister Carolyn W. Scott, brother, Paul White and a host of nieces and nephews.
