Jennifer Nicole Short, age 44, a resident of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on April 5, 2021.
Jennifer is survived by her parents, Betsy and Richard Gausling, her brother Scott Gausling (wife Brandie Gausling), her sister Melissa Childers (husband Ian Childers), sister Sara Gausling (husband Matt Schmeh) and niece, Sophia Corinne Schmeh. Jennifer is also survived by her aunt Susan Stanforth and aunt Dawn Gausling (wife Cathy Engel).
She is preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Bea and Hank Porada.
Jennifer was fiercely independent and lived a free-spirited, adventurous life that led her to live in many cities including Chicago, IL where she discovered her love for city life. As the oldest of four, she loved to engage her younger siblings in new experiences and adventures and always spoiled them with extravagant gifts at birthdays and holidays. This past year Jennifer's love expanded to her first niece, Sophia Corinne, who she showered with gifts and love beyond measure despite a pandemic trying to keep them apart.
Jennifer had a long career at the VA Hospital where she made positive impacts on the lives of patients and her coworkers with her dedication and passion for the medical profession.
Jennifer will be remembered as someone that had a wicked sense of humor, a big imagination, immense intelligence and an extreme love for learning. She thrived on sharing her humor and love of literature with her friends and family for hours on end. She loved to bake for others to show her affection and appreciation for them.
But more than anything (maybe even more than her family 😉) Jennifer loved her adopted child, Fiona the Hippo.
In keeping with Jennifer's final wishes she was cremated, and a celebration of her life will be conducted at a later date. Her urn will rest at Spring Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jennifer to SISCA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center, Cincinnati Zoo or Justice Democrats.
Arrangements by Spring Grove Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Ave in Cincinnati.
