Obituary

James Franklin Gabel, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born on August 11, 1939 in Madison, Indiana to the late Wallace and Lorene Gabel. 

Jim was an artist by profession, as well as a painter and photographer; also enjoying drawing, wood working, model ship building, amongst many other hobbies. A collector of books, music, native American and medieval memorabilia. Wonderful husband and father, proud marine, and good friend to many coworkers and neighbors in America and Europe.

 James is survived by his wife, Lola Gabel of 60 years, daughter, Kimberly ( James Gates) Gabel Gates; brother, Donald (Rita) Gabel; and niece and nephew, Bryan and Jennifer Gabel.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 1pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 2pm at Spring Grove Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223. Interment to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or The Alzheimer's Association. www.springgrove.org
