Herbert William Washington Jr. died early on Saturday morning, January 30, 2021. He had been recently transferred to hospice in Blue Ash, Ohio. This was the place of his death.
Herbert William Washington Jr. was born on February 12, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the parents of Herbert William Washington Sr. and Virginia Washington. Herbert Washington Jr. is survived by one sister, Patricia (Calvin) Hill. One sister, Henrietta Washington, preceded him in death. His four living children are Michael Harlem Washington, Constance Washington Brown (Malphus), Herbert Wayne Washington and Timothy Stewart Washington. One son, Anthony Wendell Washington (Mary Washington), preceded him in death. Herb, as he was affectionately known, leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
After attending Central High School Herb enlisted in the Navy. He served as a water engineer on board the U.S.S. Harlem during the Korean conflict in the early 1950s.
Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the navy, Herb settled with his wife (Willa) and family in the village of the Hazelwood, in Blue Ash. Herb had a very strong work ethic. In 1959 he became an entrepreneur, purchasing Stantons Delicatessen with its adjoining apartments. All of his children will forever cherish him as being the best dad ever! Herbs provision and sacrifices were intangible but rich endowments to his family.
Herb will be remembered as a person who pointed others to historys hallmarkthe Cross of Jesus Christ.
We are so grateful for the Cross of Christ, the empty tomb and the soon coming of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. May God be pleased to use this occasion-the death of Herbert William Washington Jr.- to draw many unto Himself.
