Gerard H. Poll, Jr.
Gerard (Jerry) died on February 4, 2021, while a resident of Twin Lakes retirement community in Montgomery,Ohio. He was a lifelong resident of Cincinnati. Preceded in death by his father, Gerard H. Poll, Sr., his mother, Edna Marie Poll, and his brother, William Poll (Mary). Survived by Virginia Layfield Poll, his cherished wife of 66 years, his son, Gerard H. Poll III (Kathleen), his daughter, Patricia Poll Brandy (Michael), grandsons Brian Gerard Poll (Sarah) and Ethan Joseph Poll, granddaughters Elizabeth Root (Brad) and Katherine Parrish Brandy, great grandchildren Emma Grace Root & Michael Gerard Root, and sister Carol Buchert (Ken) plus nieces and nephews.
Jerry Graduated from Withrow High School (’47) and the University of Cincinnati (’51) and was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity at UC.
Jerry was a veteran, having served in the army during the Korean Conflict. He loved Knox Presbyterian Church. He loved his 39-year career at Gardner Business Media, where he was editor and publisher of Products Finishing Magazine. He was very active in the American Electroplaters Association and The Metal Finishing Suppliers Association.
Jerry was a survivor of five different kinds of cancer, the first of which struck when he was 48 years old. He attributed his survival to the loving care of his RN wife, Virginia, and to the medical professionals of Christ Hospital.
Jerry and Virginia loved Sanibel Island, Florida, where they spent 25 wonderful winters after retirement.
The family will have a private graveside service and a memorial service at a later date.
