Garry Montague, age 82, passed away on May 15, 2023, in West Chester Township, OH. He is survived by his wife, Diane Montague (nee Miller); his sister Carrol Montague of Palm Harbor, FL; his daughter Shelby Nusrala of Overland Park, KS; his stepdaughter Melissa (Jeff) Madden of Mason, OH; as well as six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren (another one due in August), a niece and a nephew. Garry is preceded in death by his father Gilbert Montague; his mother, Helen Montague; his brother, Clyde Montague; his daughter, Leaura "Lori" Ballou and his niece, Lyrray Pierce.
Following an early graduation from Gerstmeyer High School in 1959, Garry enlisted in the Air Force and was passionate about serving his country. Over the span of his 20 years of service, Garry was stationed at various places around the United States, as well as around the world. Following his departure from the Air Force, Garry started civilian life working as a technical writer in the aviation division at General Electric in Cincinnati, OH. This resulted in a 22-year career. His last employer was Belcan, where he spent 14 years working on component maintenance manuals for Honeywell. Work was a big part of Garry's life and he continued to do contract assignments until he fully retired. Outside of work, Garry enjoyed riding his motorcycle, pitching horseshoes, playing softball, bowling and doing water aerobics. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, often attending school events and watching them play sports. As an avid sports fan, he cheered on his home teams. Garry touched the lives of so many people and he will be greatly missed!
Visitation to be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, 6:00pm at Spring Grove Funeral Homes, 11285 Princeton Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45246 with service at 7:00pm. Burial with honors on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Air Force Aid Society.
