Dora Irene Vinegar, Irene as she was affectionately known, lost her earthly battle with bladder cancer at the age of 80 but gained her heavenly crown on Sunday June 20, 2021.
She was born of the union Thomas Lee and Dora Lee Vinegar on December 8, 1940, in Cincinnati Ohio.
She was the youngest of 10 children. She was a pleasure to be around and always willing to help anyone with a beautiful smile.
At an early age, Irene accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
She attended and graduated from Taft High School in 1960. During High School she was a head Majorette and a Debutante. Irene had a love for music at an early age and began singing in the church choir with her mother and siblings. She and two of her classmates Marion Jackson Griffin and Delores Watkins formed a singing group known as The Charmaines. She performed with James Brown, Louis Armstrong and Roy Orbison to name a few. The Charmaines are part of the King Record Company history. Even to this day, their music is still popular in the Northern Movement in the UK.
In later years, Irene and her two beloved and musically gifted sons Eric and Corey Vinegar were members of Cincinnati Stridettes Dance/Drill Team.
Irene retired from Cincinnati Public System where she taught children with special needs as a Skilled Assistant Teacher. She was also a dedicated employee of the Kroger Co., where she loved helping others until her health failed. She retired from Kroger May 5, 2021.
"When you plant seeds in the lives of others and water them with love and care you will reap a harvest of sweet memories that will follow you everywhere"
