In loving memory of David Scoggins Greene, II

David Greene, a man of independent spirit, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023 at the age of 76.
He was born in Greensboro NC April 12, 1947 to David and Colleen Greene and grew up with his sister Gale. He graduated from University of North Carolina with a degree in biology and served as a marine during the Vietnam War. He loved science fiction in all forms and took every chance he had to go fishing.
His life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with dementia. Before dementia took its toll, David was known for his constant optimism, friendliness, and welcoming spirit. He was a man dedicated to Christ who served his church for many years.
As we honor David's memory, we extend our condolences to those who may have known him well and had a glimpse in to his unique journey. We offer compassion and understanding to all those whose lives are touched by dementia. May David find peace and rest from the challenges he faced, and may his memory be eternal.
David is survived by his family, Maria Greene, David and Kiki McLeish, Suellen Greene, Charles and Krista Varnell, and his grandchildren Elina and Luke Varnell.
Visitation will be held at Holy Trinity and St Nicholas Church on Wednesday May 24 from 10 - 11 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am. He will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery.
