Cristi Lynne Boone, 81, of Hyde Park, died January 17, 2021, at Barrington of Oakley of complications from Parkinson’s and dementia. She was born at Deaconess Hospital on June 16, 1939 to Adolph and Dorothy DeRuyter Hallerman and graduated from Withrow High School and the University of Cincinnati. In 1959 she married Marvin A. Boone, also of Cincinnati, and they had four children: Marc A. Boone (Christiane) of Frankfort, Germany; Charles Edward Boone (Holly) of Cincinnati, Deborah Lynne Boone (William Grau) of Geneva, IL and Jack Martin Boone of Cincinnati. Cristi has four grandchildren, all of whom live in Cincinnati: Justin Boone and Zachary Boone (Angelina) and Brody and Charley Boone. Zachary and Angelina have given her two great grandchildren, Alice and Emmet. She is also survived by two sisters, Judith Helder Borie of Philadelphia, PA and Victoria Armleder Hallerman (Dean Thompson) of Staten Island, NY. Cristi and Marvin were divorced in 1980 and in 2001 she married Edward Spiller, also of Hyde Park. He died in 2014. Before her first marriage, when computers were in their infancy, Cristi worked on a NASA project at IBM in Cincinnati and in 1975, when she returned to the work force, she put her early computer experience to good use at several large local companies, including Drackett, CG&E and Federated. Around 1997 she was recruited by Computer Associates to teach mainframe computer security worldwide, a position she held until she retired in 2011. Cristi was an early member of the Clifton Track Club and ran several marathons, and speed walked the New York Marathon with her husband, Ed. At Withrow her musical talents were well known: she played a number of wind instruments, especially the bassoon, in the band and orchestra. She never played the piano professionally, but would informally entertain fellow residents at Seasons in Kenwood and at Barrington with songs she played by ear with a rollicking left hand accompaniment. “Mom is the only person I know who had only friends, no enemies!” says her son Jack. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Sympathy may be expressed at www.springgrove.org.
