January 20, 1940 - January 3, 2022

Agnes Louise Grimes (nee Hughes) born January 20, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the Union of Taylor Hughes, III and Anna Julia Hughes, both of whom preceded her in death. Agnes was the oldest of five siblings. She was also preceded in death by Brothers Taylor IV Hughes, George Hughes, Sister-in-Law Pauline Hughes. Two grandchildren Jaime Amudu Grimes, and Niambi Morenike Grimes. Her youngest great grandchild Kai'Lani Grimes transitioned to her heavenly home shortly after her great grandparents.

Our beloved Mother Agnes Louise "Aggie" Grimes passed away on January 3, 2022. Three weeks after the "Love of H Life," her beloved husband Eddie who transitioned to his heavenly home on December 11, 2021. Their union was blessed with six wonderful children and remained in tact for 65 years. They both enjoyed full and happy lives., The Greatest Love Story of All, "Inseparable even in Death."

Agnes was a member of St. Simon of Cyrene Episcopal Church, as a young child she attended St. Simon School, Samuel Ach Jr. High, Central High School and Lockland-Wayne High School. Agnes was employed with General Electric (G&E) until her retirement.

Agnes "Aggie" as she was affectionately called by everyone who knew her, was one of the most loving and caring persons you could ever meet. She didn't treat anyone any different. Agnes loved Fashion and Style. She cared deeply about her appearance. She loved clothes and jewelry. As a little girl Agnes always loved fashion. When she was a teenager, she loved doing her & her girlfriends hair, so much so, that her Aunt Agnes wanted to send her to Beauty School. Agnes was most definitely the "Fashionista" of the family. I do believe this is where we all get our sense of style. Her favorite colors were Purple and Lavender.

Agnes loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending family gatherings, cookouts and parties. Agnes loved music, going to concerts, the casino and playing the Lottery. She loved her sisters dearly. A day didn't go by that she wasn't on the phone talking to her sisters about any and everything . Agnes will truly be missed.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory; Six children; Kerry Shawn Grimes, Marcia Grimes, Shelly (Vincent) Heard, Yana Grimes, Malaika Grimes, Soyini Grimes, her beloved 30 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Sisters; Esther (Johnny) Gordon, Dorothea Hughes and Sister-in-law Laura Hughes, along with a host of Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nieces, Great- Nephews, extended relatives and friends; all of whom loved her Dearly.

A Prayer for My Mother

I thank you God for my Mother

I thank you that she gave me life and nurtured

me all these years. She gave me my faith, helping

me to know you God. She taught me how to love and

how to sacrifice for others. She taught me that it was okay

to cry and that I should always tell the truth. Bless her with

graces she needs and which you want to give her today.

Help her to feel precious in your eyes today whether she is still

on earth or at your Heavenly Home. Lord, please give her strength

and courage, compassion and peace. Please Bless her with your Love.

Your Loving Daughter, Marcia

 Memories

A limb has fallen from the tree,

I keep hearing a voice say, "Grieve not for me."

Remember the best times, the laughter, the songs,

The good life I lived while God made me strong.

Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.

Keep smiling and surely, the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.

Remembering Oh! How I was truly blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small.

Go on with life, don't just stare at the wall.

I miss you so dearly, so keep up your chin.

Until the day comes, we are together again.
