You are invited to our annual public ceremony to decommission retired, torn and worn flags at the Historic Civil War Section of Spring Grove amongst the 1000 Civil War soldiers interred there. The public is invited to experience this moving ceremony on Wednesday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony will include a formal scout color guard, presentation of the colors, pledge of allegiance, the actual incineration of the flags, and will conclude with the lowering of the flag at dusk and Taps. The ashes of the incinerated flags will be buried at the base of the cannon and flagpole in the Historic Civil War Section of the cemetery. Ample parking is available and handicap parking will be provided. The ceremony is expected to last 45 minutes.
