Spring Grove Docent Program

Do you love art, architecture, history, horticulture? Would you enjoy sharing your enthusiasm and excitement with visitors of all ages? Then consider joining the Spring Grove Cemetery Docent Program.

What is a docent?

Docents are trained volunteers who introduce visitors to the spectacular history and horticulture at Spring Grove Cemetery through tours, talks and various programs throughout the year.

Docent candidates should:

  • Be dependable and enthusiastic
  • Possess good communication skills
  • Be able to lead tours of the grounds and facilities
  • Be willing to work with visitors of all ages
  • Provide visitors accurate information treating them
    with courtesy and respect
For many visitors, their most lasting impression of Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum is of the volunteers who assisted them. We encourage you to consider this opportunity to enrich the lives of
others, as well as your own.

As a docent you will have the opportunity to participate in the following:

  • Private group tours of the grounds, buildings and points of interest at The Grove
  • Public / Special Events - Weekend Walkabout Tours
  • Research and development of special interest topics
