What
is a docent?
Docents
are trained volunteers who introduce visitors to the spectacular
history and horticulture at Spring Grove Cemetery through tours,
talks and various programs throughout the year.
Docent
candidates should:
- Be dependable and enthusiastic
- Possess good communication skills
- Be able to lead tours of the grounds and facilities
- Be willing to work with visitors of all ages
- Provide visitors accurate information treating them
with courtesy and respect
For many visitors, their most lasting impression of Spring Grove
Cemetery & Arboretum is of the volunteers who assisted them.
We encourage you to consider this opportunity to enrich the lives
of
others, as well as your own.
As
a docent you will have the opportunity to participate in the following:
- Private group tours of the grounds, buildings and points of
interest at The Grove
- Public / Special Events - Weekend Walkabout Tours
- Research and development of special interest topics
