Sunday August 24 1:00pm "Memorial Mausoleum Stained Glass"
Take a tour inside one of Spring Grove's most impressive community mausoleums. This magnificent
piece of architecture is a classic among American cemeteries and features mosaics, wood carvings,
bas reliefs, and 33 magnificent stained and faceted glass windows. Your guide will walk you through
this collection of artistic glass, which depicts the theme "Plants of the Bible," and explain the
imagery of each window.
Saturday September 6 10:00am "Little House on the Cemetery"
The finest of marble and granite… stunning stained-glass art windows…fine architectural detail –
they can all be found in the 41 family mausoleums that dot the landscape at Spring Grove Cemetery.
These structures are not only objects of beauty, artistry and architecture, reflecting the
craftsmanship of their era, but they are also shrines meant to honor the individuals entombed within.
Join us as we take a walk past some of these structures and recount the individual achievements,
share the personal stories and admire the handiwork of the artisans that contributed to these
magnificent structures.

Saturday October 4 10:00am "Art in the Grove"
This tour will focus on the multitude of beautiful sculptures and other “artwork’ (monuments,
statuary, stained glass) throughout the cemetery. You will see bronze statues by famous artisans
and visit the gravesites of some notable artists. Included on this tour are the Clement Barnhorn
bronze relief plaque and statue of Egeria by Nathan Baker. The cemetery’s peaceful grounds,
walkable roadways, interesting monuments, statuary and beautiful landscaping make it a perfect
venue for a leisurely “art” walk.
Sunday October 18 10:00am "Sarcophagi of Stone"
From the Greek word meaning; "flesh eater". It was the name given to the stone container within
which the coffins and mummy were placed. The surface was often inscribed with texts to assist the
deceased in the journey through the underworld. One often finds the word sarcophagi being applied
to the coffin within. Join us as we visit some of these unique monuments and enjoy their artistry.
Reservations are not required for these tours. Tours, unless otherwise noted, will originate inside
the main entrance of the cemetery and are held in the event of rain as long as it is not severe.
There is a suggested donation to the Heritage Foundation of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors
(age 55 and older) payable at the registration tent the day of the tour.
