Saturday, May 2 - 10:00am "OBELISKS"

Many of the largest and most spectacular monuments fall into this category. Obelisks borrow heavily
from Egyptian, Greek and Roman architectural styles. Join your docent for a tour of these historic
and impressive monuments in Spring Grove.



Sunday, May 31 - 1:00pm "OFF THE BEATEN PATH"

What do a mermaid, a table top, a congressman and a bare-back rider have in common? Join your guide
on a unique tour of Spring Grove history that will take you to some unfamiliar areas with rarely seen
monuments and markers. This tour will begin at the Lakeside Mausoleum Complex by Willow Water Lake.



Saturday, June 6 - 10:00am "SECTION 14- CHOCK FULL OF SURPRISES! "

This is the first tour that concentrates solely on one specific area of the cemetery. You'll see a mix
of monument styles and symbolism and see a magnificent tree stone monument with an astounding
number of carvings.



Sunday, June 28 - 1:00pm "CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY & THE ARTS"

Spring Grove is THE place for Cincinnati history. Walk with us and learn about the people who put
Cincinnati on the business map, and then funded our city's culture.

Saturday, July 11 - 10:00am "BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS (TREES) "

Spring Grove Cemetery is home to many majestic State and National Champion Trees. Fortify
yourself with some juice and muffins and let's visit these local award winners.



Sunday, July 26 - 1:00pm "NORMAN CHAPEL"

This Hannaford-designed architecture is a gem so don't miss the opportunity to see both the
inside AND outside on this specially-designed tour. Learn about the 'secret' in the basement.



Saturday, August 1 - 10:00am "LEGAL HISTORY"

Cincinnati established the 2nd oldest Bar Association in the United States. Many landmark
legal issues were decided here mid-19th century. Alphonso Taft, patriarch of the Taft family,
Salmon P. Chase, Secretary of the Treasury under Lincoln, Timothy Walker author of An
Introduction to American Law, are just a few of the many who now rest their cases in
Spring Grove Cemetery



Sunday, August 30 - 1:00pm
"THE WINDOWS OF THE MEMORIAL MAUSOLEUM"


Take a tour inside one of Spring Grove's most impressive community mausoleums. This magnificent
piece of architecture is a classic among American cemeteries and features mosaics, wood carvings,
bas reliefs, and 33 magnificent stained and faceted glass windows. Your guide will walk you through
this collection of artistic glass, which depicts the theme "Plants of the Bible," and explain the
imagery of each window.


Saturday, September 5 - 10:00am "CHILDRENS TOUR"

A tour especially designed to show kids the history, art, architecture and landscape of a National
Historic Landmark. They'll see a variety of interesting carvings and what they mean. A fun and
educational way to introduce kids to a historic cemetery.


Sunday, September 27 - 1:00pm "WHAT'S UP?"

Most visitors to Spring Grove miss some of the most interesting forms of memorial art that are
located on the tops of monuments. Spend an hour looking UP to see what you've been missing and
more on this fun tour of "what's up". And don't forget your binoculars!


Saturday, October 3 - 10:00am "TREES- VIVID & VIBRANT"

How many times have you strolled through 'The Grove' and wondered, "What kind of tree is that?"
Join a SG docent on this fun tour of the many trees that make Spring Grove an officially
sanctioned arboretum.


Sunday, October 25 - 1:00pm "ART IN THE GROVE"

This tour will focus on the multitude of beautiful sculptures and other 'artwork' throughout the
cemetery. You will see bronze statues by famous artisans and visit the gravesites of some notable
artists along the way.



Reservations are not required for these tours. Tours, unless otherwise noted, will originate inside
the main entrance of the cemetery and are held in the event of rain as long as it is not severe.
There is a suggested donation to the Heritage Foundation of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors
(age 55 and older) payable at the registration tent the day of the tour.
Children 12 and under are free.
