I will always remember Nick as a kind and generous man. I cannot express the loyalty and kindness he showed me in the years I knew him. Wonderful family man and true friend.

What word comes into mind when you think of Nick ( Dixie ). I think that word is caring. When I first met him he was one of my team-mates on the Milligan College Baseball Team. As a freshman there were many highs and lows throughout the season. The one constant through all those times was Nick. When you needed encouragement during the bad times he was the one guy who was there to put a smile on your face and make you laugh. When you did something good he was always there to compliment your effort and celebrate with you. After we left college it was Nick that helped keep the communication going among his team-mates as they scattered throughout the nation. He kept track of what was happening in our lives and it was not unusual for him to call me and tell me about what was happening with one of my team-mate and their family. He communicated constantly with Coach Stout and Coach McLain and always let us know how they were doing. As coach's health began to fail it was Nick who wou

While in high school Dixie and I not only lived within walking distance of each other's home, we played basketball and baseball together on the high school teams and the American Legion Baseball teams. Dixie was a terrific baseball and basketball player. He worked with Sandy Williams and Phil Musgrave as he led the basketball team to many victories. I am saddened by Dixie's passing, but fondly remember the wonderful memories of playing basketball and baseball, hitch-hiking home, eating his mother's famous pasta and hanging out at our high school activities together. He was a true and faithful friend and I was blessed to have him as my buddy. Unfortunately, our lives journeyed in different directions as we aged and we lost touch. My wife and I express our deepest sympathy and condolences. May God be with you. Sincerely, Dave and Lynn Hutter

We were classmates of Dixie at Steubenville High School. He was a fine competitive athlete but more importantly he was a good friend and excellent classmate. He displayed a sense of humor and zest for life that was infectious. Over the years we lost contact, but we always knew if weneeded help we could count him in. May his family and friends be comforted with knowing he was one of the good guys in our lives. Sandy and Wally Neel
