Mrs. Lizzie Mae Morris Williams was born February 27, 1922 in Huntsville, Alabama. Lizzie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Willie Williams, Sr. in 1943. They moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1945 where they started and raised their family.
Lizzie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bible Way Church of God in Christ. She was a very active member of the church by serving on the Pastors Aid Club and the Hospitality Club. She also was a member of the Eastern Star where she continued her life’s work of humanitarianism. She was truly a woman of God who gave generously from her heart. She worked at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in the area of Hospitality for over 25 years.
Lizzie loved birds and dogs and anything sweet. She received her nickname “Sugar Baby” because of her love of sweets. She always gave a helping hand to others. Her home was always open to anyone that needed a place to stay. Lizzie never judged anyone, including her own children. Her favorite color was red and she loved roses. Lizzie was a very wise and understanding woman.
Lizzie lost her loving husband Willie Williams Sr. in 1981. She continued to guide her children with the strength that the Lord gave her for the rest of her 97 years.
She departed this life on August 31, 2019 at 5:30pm at Daniel Drake Hospital Vitas Hospice surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mrs. Gertrude and Mr. George Morris, Sr.; a brother, George Morris, Jr. and her loving husband, Willie Williams, Sr.
She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Cynthia (West, deceased), Deyvonne (Michael, deceased), Rita (Kevin) and three sons, Willie, Jr. (Cheryl, deceased), Karl (MaryAnn) and Tyrone; 14 grand children and 31 great grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews and many special family friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service 11:00 a.m. at the Spring Grove Funeral Homes Blue Spruce Chapel, 4389 Spring Grove Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45223. Burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
