Obituary

Wife, Mother, Daughter, Aunt, Mentor, Teacher, Artist, Nurturer, Designer, Visionary, Friend and Fashionista.

Preceded in death by her Parents Grace and Adolph Voelker, and her loving husband Vernon Ferrier.  Survived by her step children Tara Ferrier-Kasica, Tracy Ferrier-Evans and Timothy Ferrier, her siblings Victoria Voelker, Angela Schonberger, Dolph Voelker and Lisa Vitek, her nieces and nephews Sarah McKeen-Tracy, Mary Grace McKeen, Graham McKeen, Aleah Dechant, Kate Schonberger-Adams, Kent Schonberger, Mac Clenney, and Maggie Clenney.

Margaret’s undying love and devotion for Vernon and her family were at the center of her life, followed closely by the joy she found teaching her students, and building memories with her friends.  She hosted many gatherings with warm stories of her international adventures, multiple course meals and delicious wine.

Margaret left a legacy of teaching and mentoring many future designers as a beloved tenured Professor at the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning at the University of Cincinnati.  She inspired her students with imagination and skill, often hosting trips to the Paris fashion houses and New York’s Fashion District. She was an accomplished water color artist, often visiting Aix-en-Provence and Monet’s Garden to perfect her watercolor techniques.

Among her many accomplishments are earning her tenure as a full Professor, twice being awarded Professor of the Year by her students, serving as the coordinator of DAAP Fashion Department and a published international writer and contributor.

Margie was an amazing person and teacher. She encouraged all of her to students to dream and see the fantasy in fashion. She allowed everyone to be their own individual and nurtured everyone’s talent in the way best suited for them. She had a very big impact on my development as a designer and the career I have today. Margie always believed in me even when I didn’t......for that I will be forever grateful. Heaven just got a little more fabulous and a hell of a lot chicer! RIP
