Sharon Marguerite Franklin Eberhart, 69, passed away July 1, 2018. Born July 6, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH, daughter to the late Eugene and Ida Lee (nee Irby) Franklin.
Survived by her daughter, Tara Lynn Eberhart; grandchildren, Devin Robert Eugene Eberhart, and Lauryn Alexis Nikol Wilson; sisters, Ruth Franklin, Marjorie Keeling, Jean “Elaine” Franklin, Pamela Kay Franklin, Joy Lynn Creutzinger, Angela Faye (Ibrahima) of Abu Dhabi, UAE; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Dale Franklin.
Sharon graduated as a Registered Nurse from Good Samaritan College of Nursing, the only African American in her class and held the honor of Valedictorian. She continued her education studying Neurosurgical Nursing in Chicago and Houston. She worked for many different medical institutions before going on to work for Cincinnati Bell in occupational nursing. Sharon retired after 25 years with the company.
In her retirement, Sharon spent another 15 years working for TriHealth as a parish nurse, retiring for a second time in 2015. Throughout her career she also worked with the Central Community Health Board/Crisis Center as a RN. Sharon was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection and always was prepared to help serve anyone in need, volunteering regularly at the St. Mark’s Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen. She was also a member of the Red Hatters Group in Dayton. She will be remembered for her love of baking and was well known for her Parker House Rolls and pound cakes. Sharon also enjoyed reading, especially romance novels.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 14 from 9:30AM to 11AM at Church of the Resurrection, 1619 California Ave. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will take place on a later date at Spring Grove Cemetery.
