Megan J. Devoted wife of Chad Creed for 21 years. Loving daughter of Billie Smith and the late Harry Smith. Cherished younger sister of Jim (Marta) Smith, Jeff (Janet) Smith, Steve Smith, and Stacia Camper. Beloved aunt of Elysia (Wes) Smith-Mininger, Darrin Smith, Greg Smith, Jessica (Jesse) Smith-Tack, James Smith, Colin Camper, Madeleine Camper, and Jaime Camper. Adored great aunt of Colton, Cooper, and Ophelia. Passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the age of 46.
Megan was a great conversationalist, warm and honest. She loved passing time in discussion. Megan enjoyed the exchange of ideas, thoughts, beliefs, and feelings and used those experiences to inform and expand upon the connectedness she felt with those around her. These interactions, whether informal conversation, or in a structure such as a business meeting or book club, often reminded everyone how insightful she was and how effortlessly she elevated the discussion and provided valued perspective.
Megan always showed care, concern, and tenderness to everyone. She believed in the best of others and lived with the best of intentions. Megan put the needs of others ahead of her own and was quick to lend a helping hand or a compassionate ear. She was also a fierce friend and would ardently defend anyone who she thought was treated unjustly. Megan was unyielding in her positivity. No matter what was going on in her life or in our world, Megan always chose to show us her happy and optimistic self.
Megan loved simple and natural things. Despite often dressing in blacks and grays, she enjoyed brightness in light, colors, and patterns. She marveled at the beauty of wild things wherever they occurred. Although she was raised as a cat person, she did not discriminate. She enjoyed dogs, birds and regularly made trips to the Cincinnati Zoo. Like most of us, Megan was a fan of Fiona the Hippo and as a Detroit Red Wings fan, she had a fondness for octopi.
Megan enjoyed taking on projects and adventures that challenged her. She loved to travel, enjoy good food and drink, and commune with those she cared most for. Although she did it often, she always wanted to travel more and throw more parties. She loved having “co-conspirators” join her in the journeys and celebrations of her life.
Megan would love to know that everyone is going to be OK in her absence. She was selfless, loving and always wanted the very best for everyone. Megan would want to be remembered as a smiling, fun, easy-to-laugh-with friend. She would want everyone to realize that we all play a role in other people’s lives – a million tiny parts. She would hope we each take every opportunity to opt for kindness, gentleness and giving.
