Dwight Anthony Butler, 61 a resident of Cincinnati, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at his residence.
Born on July 18, 1956 in Covington, Kentucky to his loving parents Calvin and Marlene Butler.
He was employed with PNC Bank after serving as a CRA residential lending officer with Seattle First National Bank in Washington. After returning to Cincinnati and prior to joining PNC, he worked in the savings and loan industry and in his family's business. He graduated with a degree in Management and Economics from Fisk University in Nashville, TN. Some of his achievements and memberships include being a member of African American Leadership Development Class III Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, member of Urban Bankers Cincinnati Chapter, volunteer for Greater Cincinnati Mortgage Counseling Service, speaker for Neighbor Housing Service and Home Ownership Center and the Better Housing League, and also Number 1 Loan Officer PNC 1998.
Dwight's professional goal was always to assist as many families as possible to achieve home ownership. All who worked with him enjoyed his tenacity, sense of humor, and his determination to make a loan work. He gave as often as possible to the non-profits charged with assisting in preparing families to move to the next step. There are many home owners who, thanks to Dwight's perseverance, have now moved to a second home, become owners of multiple properties, and in several cases have changed careers because he encouraged them to go farther and be all that they could be.
All in the banking, real estate, and the housing nonprofit community will forever be grateful for all he did and he shall be forever missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his loving children, Dwight Butler Mills and Rhonda Shelton; siblings, Seneca Garrett (James) and Denise Anderson; nieces and nephews, Brooke Goldman, Marcus Anderson, Mark Travis, and Jordan Travis; loving grandmother at the age of 102, Alieen Butler; Aunt, Marlene “Marty” Butler; and a host of cousins and friends.
Services for Mr. Butler will be conducted on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Cedars of Lebanon Chapel, located on the grounds of Spring Grove Cemetery beginning with a visitation at 9am and funeral services to follow at 10am. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery.
The family welcomes you to join them for a repass dinner held at the Spring Grove Funeral Home Tri-County location, 11285 Princeton Pike, Glendale, OH 45246 immediately following the graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Valley Food and Clothing, 420 W, Wyoming Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45215.
