Marjorie Eleanor Wesley Gassett, went to be home with the Lord on Saturday, July 22nd, 2017. She was born April 4th, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the eldest daughter of her parents Raymond Wesley and Dorothy Nelson Wesley. Her three sisters, Carolyn Wesley Peagler, Catherine Wesley, and Frances Wesley, preceded her in death.
Marjorie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ early in her life under the pastoral leadership of her grandfather Charles Wesley of Kennedy Heights Baptist Church. As an adult, she joined Gaines United Methodist Church where she remained a dedicated member.
In February of 1950, Marjorie was joined in holy matrimony to James Gassett, Jr. To the union was born David ‘Punchy’ Wesley Gassett(deceased), John Harrison Gassett, and Joan Marie Gassett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years.
In her family, she was a second generation graduate of Walnut Hills High School. Due to her example and teaching, the family generational blessing of Walnut Hills High School graduates has not been broken. She continually stressed the importance of education and achievement to her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
As a seven year resident of Indian Springs of Oakley Nursing Home, her ministry of encouragement to the residents and staff was life giving. Throughout her life challenges, her trust in the Lord, grace, strength, and wisdom touched the lives of all around her.
Marjorie loved the Lord. She loved family and friends, the Pittsburgh Steelers, eating, reading, crossword puzzles, discussing politics, shopping, and holidays.
She is survived by children Joan Gassett Hunter, and John (Jill) Gassett; grandchildren India Jamila Hunter, Jessica Gassett, and Julian Gassett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends whom she loved and adored.
