Thomas Joseph Gardner (Tom), age 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, surrounded by his family in Arlington, Virginia, following a brief illness. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 19, 1927, to Helen (Sharkey) and Theodore F. Gardner (deceased). Tom attended Nativity School and Walnut Hills High School. Tom was a dedicated Michigan football fan and spent many fall Saturdays watching the Wolverines with his family. He was an avid reader throughout his life and was particularly fond of 20th century U.S. history.
