Obituary

Lee Otis Green was born on November 23, 1922. He is one of eight children to the union of Jack and Elfreda Green Sr. in Swainsboro, Georgia. In 1937, Elfreda moved her children to Cincinnati, Ohio to be with her husband Jack Sr., the founder and Pastor of Bright Star Baptist Church. Lee Otis Green’s siblings were Emma Brown, Willie Green, Tommy Green, Jack Green Jr., Walter Green, Janie Green, and Jennie Green who remained in Swainsboro, Georgia.

Lee Otis married Fannie Green and they had twelve children together. From this union, they had 29 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Lee Otis served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a true American Patriot who believed in his country and served with an honorable discharge.

He worked for Rose Brothers and retired after 39 years of service. He enjoyed working with customers and the community. As a Union Steward, he was selected to represent his co-workers during the first company strike that subsequently resulted in a pay increase for the employees of the company.

He was a wise and spiritual man who was a member of Bright Star Baptist Church. He raised his family under the love and wisdom of God. Lee Otis and Fannie always had an open door, words of encouragement and food to share to whomever was in need. They were truly a beacon of light.

Preceding him in death was his father and mother, Jack Sr. and Elfreda Green; his siblings, Walter Green, Emma Brown, Willie Green, Tommy Green, Jack Green, Jr., Janie Green, and Jennie Green; sons, Earl Green and Joe Johnson; and son-in-law Lawrence Tucker.

His life will continue to be celebrated by those he leaves behind: his devoted wife, Fannie Mae; children, Joyce Johnson (Eddie), Anniebelle King (Ronnie), Shirley Tucker, Rosetta Johnson, Neron Solid, Fannie Jackson, Clarise Green (Robert), Melvin Green (Kia), Alfreda Oliver (Derrick) and Bennie Green.
