James "Jim" Louis, died peacefully after a short illness April 14,2017 at the age of 86.he was surrounded by his family, His wife, Sally(Bartlett) of 62 years, his children, Lisa Turner, of Cincinnati, Michael Vadis and daughter-in-law Maureen of Peoria, Ill. His beloved grandchildren, Katy, Lily and Jeremy Turner of Cincinnati. He also leaves behind sisters Georgia Wathey of Akron, Ohio and Christine Thomas of Denver Colorado. He served in the Korean War and graduated from Akron University. In 1957 he started his retailing career at the Higbee Company in Cleveland where he became president in 1980. In between he was vice-president of the May Co. of California, Lazarus in Cincinnati and in 1985 he became President of US Shoe apparel in Cincinnati. He was born Oct. 30 1930 in Chicago and grew up in the Greek Orthodox Church in Akron Ohio. Always athletic, he was a star player in high school and in later years became an avid golfer. He was a member of the VA, American Legion and Knox Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. until time of service 10:00 a.m. at the Cedars of Lebanon Chapel at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45232.
