Soncha Turner, a beautiful and devoted mother, loving grand-mother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother went home to heaven on May 30, 2016.
She was born on July 1, 1935 to Chong Su Kim and Lee Yi in Seoul, South Korea. She was the oldest daughter and had six siblings, brothers San Tong Yi and Sun Tong Yi, and sisters Pung Cha Yi, Ch’I Cha Yi, Chong Cha Yi, and Pi Pi Yi. She was educated in South Korea and fluent in Korean, Japanese and English. Married Norman West, came to Cincinnati, Ohio and became a Naturalized citizen July 17, 1963. To this union, four children were born: Charlene, Dante, Ossie and Jacqueline.
She was a strong woman and worked multiple jobs in her lifetime. All her employers praised her for her dedication, speed and quality. She was most proud of her children and their accomplishments.
Soncha left us on May 30, 2016. She is preceded in death by her husband James Turner of 43 years, grandson J. Douglas M. Gipson II, her parents and siblings San Yi and Pung Cha.
Left to cherish her memory are: Daughter, Charlene (Rickey), Son Dante (Daphney), Son Ossie and Daughter Jacqueline, Grandchildren: Christina Gipson, Gabrielle West, Dante West, Jr., Dashianel Mathis, Great-grandchildren: Shaniqua Gipson, J. Douglas Gipson III, Great-great grandchildren: Michael Scott and some true friends.
