Many of the largest and most spectacular monuments fall into this category.
All obelisks and columns borrow heavily from Egyptian, Greek and Roman architectural
styles. Join your docent for a tour of these historic and impressive monuments in Spring Grove.
Sunday May 18 1:00pm "What's Up?"
Most visitors to Spring Grove miss some of the most interesting forms of memorial art that
are located on the tops of monuments. Spend an hour looking UP to see what you've been
missing and more on this new tour of "what's up"! And don't forget your binoculars!
Saturday June 7 10:00am "Founding Fathers"
Cincinnati's rich heritage comes from the talented, dedicated, industrious and civic-minded
men who came here from far and wide. Some were the sons of farmers, some came with silver
spoons and some sold goods. Take a stroll, hear the stories, and learn how what these men
did then makes us who we are today.
Sunday June 22 1:00pm "Poetry in Stone"
A journey from everyday concerns into the world of Spring Grove's most historic monuments and
the beautiful carvings which make them unique. We will meet the "Allegorical Melancholy Female
Figures" who proivde an atmosphere of mystery and great allure to their monuments.
Saturday July 5 10:00am "History and Heritage"
Walk through the most historic portions of the cemetery and learn about the rich history within
our 'museum without walls'. On this tour, you will visit the Civil War section with over 999
soldiers interred and some of Cincinnati's most influential founders and residents.

Sunday July 20 1:00pm "Leafs and Reliefs"
Embark on an intriguing adventure into some of Spring Grove's most historic monuments and
the beautiful botanicals which surround them. Attention is given to the symbols of nature,
both flowers and foliage, incorporated into the monuments and what they mean to the lives of
the fascinating people who are permanent residents of Cincinnati's most famous monumental landmark.
Reservations are not required for these tours. Tours, unless otherwise noted, will originate inside
the main entrance of the cemetery and are held in the event of rain as long as it is not severe.
There is a suggested donation to the Heritage Foundation of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors
(age 55 and older) payable at the registration tent the day of the tour.
