Beginning in April through October, the first Saturday of each month, enjoy a
'Weekend Walkabout' tour of Spring Grove. These tours are led by knowledgeable
docents and topics will vary from month to month. Reservations are not required
for these tours. Tours unless otherwise noted will originate inside the main
entrance of the cemetery and are held even in the event of rain as long as it
is not severe. Follow the information signs at the main entrance of the cemetery.
There is a suggested donation to the Heritage Foundation of $5.00 for adults,
$4.00 for seniors (age 55 and older) payable at the registration tent the day of the tour.

SATURDAY, APRIL 3 - 10:00am "ICONOGRAPHY & SYMBOLS"

If you find yourself constantly asking the question, "What does that symbol mean?" when you explore
Spring Grove's monuments and markers, then this tour is for YOU! Join a trained docent on a tour of
interesting carved symbols and learn what they mean. And don't forget your binoculars!

SATURDAY, MAY 1 - 10:00am "A STROLL IN THE GROVE"

What better way to start the merry month of May than with our resident horticulture docent on a
beautiful stroll through the magnificent landscape of foliage and flora of an officially sanctioned
arboretum. Take in the fragrance of Spring Grove's trees and flowers in bloom on your stroll
through Spring Grove beauty today.

SATURDAY, JUNE 5 - 10:00am "CAPTAINS OF INDUSTRY"

During the Age of Industrialization, Cincinnati was a leader in many areas and continues to lead
the way even today. This tour will concentrate on the many businessmen and women who
contributed to Cincinnati's success and their final resting places.

SATURDAY, JULY 3 - 10:00am "LEAFS & RELIEFS"

One of our most popular tours will be repeated today on this glorious exploration of carved
iconography that reflects nature and beauty. You'll be amazed at the variety of plant life that
is depicted on monuments and the interesting symbolism connected with them. What does an
upside-down flower mean? Find out on your Leafs & Reliefs tour today!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 7 - 10:00am "BUILDING THE GROVE"

Oh, so many beautiful monuments and buildings in our nation's second largest cemetery!
If you're interested in architecture, this tour is for YOU! Join a trained docent on a walk to
some of Spring Grove's most beautiful and historically significant buildings and mausoleums by
noted architects. Did you know that Samuel Hannaford designed our Norman Chapel?
Just one of many facts you will learn on this unique tour.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 - 10:00am "POETRY IN THE GROVE"

"I think that I shall never see, a tour as pretty as one on poetry"! This first-time tour focuses
on the poetic art and expression that is so lovingly associated with beautiful monuments and
markers in Spring Grove. The Gen. William H. Lytle monument has one of the most significant
connections to poetry in Cincinnati and you will marvel at the beauty of his monument
on this "poetic" tour.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2 - 10:00am "HISTORY & HERITAGE"

This tour is most definitely for beginners! Our most popular tour is a must for those who have
never taken one of our docent-led tours as it covers the history, art, architecture and landscape
of a National Historic Landmark. You will learn a little about a lot that makes Spring Grove famous
and it will leave you clamoring for more!
