John graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
After graduating, John traveled to New Orleans for the summer and visited a number of
funeral homes and cemeteries in Louisiana where he gained further knowledge, perspective,
and appreciation for Funeral Service. Once he returned to Cincinnati, he immediately registered to take
courses at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science to start a career in Funeral Service.
In April 2004, John joined the Spring Class of students attending CCMS studying to become a Licensed Funeral
Director and Embalmer. While taking classes at CCMS, John was afforded an opportunity to work on an every
other weekend basis at the Gwen Mooney Funeral Home. This allowed John to work up close and personal with
Funeral Directors and Embalmers which gave him additional insight to Funeral Service.
In July 2005, John graduated from CCMS with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science.
John served his yearlong apprenticeship at the Gwen Mooney Funeral Home. In January 2007, John earned his
Funeral Director and Embalmers
License in the state of Ohio. In early 2009, John joined the
National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association as well as the Buckeye State Funeral Directors
and Embalmers Association.
He is very dedicated to his profession and recognizes the true gift in helping to honor a life well lived.
He considers himself very fortunate to work with such dedicated people who all share the same vision and goal,
which is to provide impeccable care, respect, and diligence to each and every family that selects the
Gwen Mooney Funeral Home to honor the life of their loved one.
